Who makes SanMar's hats?
SanMar doesn't manufacture — it sources house-brand headwear from partner factories across Asia and distributes third-party brands alongside them. The company-level record is unusually well documented; the cap-level record doesn't exist.
The facts
Founded in 1971, family-owned, and the number-one supplier in the industry two years running, with nine US distribution centres. 2025 and 2026 reshaped it: a complete China exit documented in the company’s own tariff statements and its CEO’s words, the acquisition of BELLA+CANVAS, and distribution deals that brought Richardson (31 styles including the 112, from January 2026) and Flexfit (standalone, Fall 2026) into the catalogue — meaning the largest distributor now moves the two biggest cap brands in the channel.
House brands are Port Authority, Port & Company, Sport-Tek, District and CornerStone. Sourcing runs across 19–21 countries per FLA and company documents, and headwear remains Asian-sourced by stated strategy. US production is limited to the Volunteer Knitwear line in Tennessee — tellingly, the one line exempted from the 2025 tariff price increase.
