Where are Pacific Headwear caps made?

China historically and Bangladesh currently, with Vietnam as a trial lane — per customs records. The American part of the story was decoration: two US facilities whose documented job titles were embroidery operators, trimmers and patch appliers. Both closed by mid-2026.

The facts

Pacific Headwear (founded in Coburg, Oregon) ran its own captive China sourcing arm in Dongguan — an unusually direct structure for a cap brand. After its 2019 acquisition by Augusta Sportswear, the record shifts heavily to the Bangladesh cap cluster: a 600,000-dozen-a-year BGMEA-registered factory in the Dhaka EPZ, and the same Ashulia and Savar facilities where Flexfit LLC is the largest US customer. The fitted-stretch ecosystem you are buying into is substantially shared across brands.

Blanks arrived from Dongguan and Savar; the American value-add was thread. This page is the case study behind Tier 3 of the three-tier explainer on our Cap America page.

What it means for you

If the “American” cap you have been buying was Bangladesh-made and Oregon-embroidered, you can buy the Bangladesh cap direct and decorate wherever serves you — in our factories, with eight methods in-house, or at your own decorator.

Typical blanks $6–$13 — above commodity tiers, below Richardson's premium styles.

The US chapter, precisely

South Boston, Virginia closed in August 2025 (48 jobs, a customisation-focused facility). Coburg, Oregon closed in July 2026 (up to 83 jobs; the WARN filing lists embroidery operators, trimming and inspection workers, and patch-application staff). Work moved to a North Carolina centre described in every primary source as decorating, kitting and servicing — not cut-and-sew.
